A week with the Buttles

We drove home from Washington DC to Georgia where we stayed 3 days before driving out to Arkansas to see the Buttle family. We had a blast with them swimming, jumping and eating ice cream! We went to their awesome community center where they had an awesome splash area with water slides. AJ had SO much fun on the water slides!
And the kids all loved playing "crack the egg" and   "emperor style add on" (a game we made up at our last visit).
And the ice cream! The ice cream! First, we had date night- dinner, mini golf and ended it with "the super center sundae" at the Spark Cafe. It was supposed to be 16 scoops of ice cream in a gigantic bowl but they told us that they couldn't find the bowl. We were so disappointed until we remembered that we were in Bentonville Arkansas and there is a Walmart around every corner. There was one a block away so we walked down there, bought an $.88 serving bowl and took it back. They added extra scoops because they felt bad for disappointing us! It was great!
The other ice cream we had was at a gas station 30 minutes from Bentonville. We had giant soft serve cones there! I mean giant. The kids had the Pee-wee size and Katie, David and I all ordered the small.
We had another great and relaxing vacation and played a lot of games (unfortunately, Tyler won most of them).
Thanks Buttle family for letting us call your home, ours.

Versailles and the new Paris temple

We started off our day with crepes for breakfast at a crepery close to our house. They were so yummy! After breakfast we headed to the train station, we were off to Versailles.
It was so hot, the hottest day of our entire trip and we choose to spend it out in Versailles. We walked from the train station to the palace and already everyone was sweaty and tired and stabbing in the extent long line to get in did not appeal to most of us. David did some recon and found that we could walk through the gardens without waiting in the line so we did just that. But remember it was hot and people were grumpy about being in the heat so we didn't see much or stay too long. Instead, we called an Uber to pick us up and take us to the Paris temple. There weren't any vans, so the driver made two trips shuttling us all there.
The temple was beautiful! Because of bottling height restrictions, they were unable to put an angel Moroni on the top so instead, they had a big Christus in the gardens.
Even though the Palace was a bust and we need a do over, going to the temple was a great way to spend the day.
