Happy birthday scouting

Nathan had his first Blue and Gold banquet for cub scouts. The theme for the night was "caves". Each den had to build a cave for their table center piece. As most of the den was out for winter break one of the boys and his dad built a cool Lego cave complete with miners in it for the den 5 table. The boys drew cave place mats and made miner hats before the dinner started. We ate Mexican food and yummy desserts before the cake auction started. Nathan tried bidding $99 for a cake but I quieted him before the bid was accepted. However there were 2 cakes that sold for $100- mommy would not pay that for a cake!
The entertainment for the evening was a ventriloquist. The boys thought he was quite funny.
It was a really fun night, a great way to celebrate the boy scouts birthday.

Strep throat and science

You are probably wondering what strep throat had to do with science. Just kidding!
Nathan was complaining to me about not feeling well. All of his symptoms pointed to the flu so I took him to the doctor. They did a strep test and it was positive. The doctor showed me his tonsils, they were almost touching. Yuck!
Since Nathan was home sick, we decided to make the volcano we bought a few days before.
We had a fun time building it and erupting it. Anderson had more fun destroying it. (side note: daddy put to much dish soap in so it bubbled too much. Next time, less soap.)
As you can tell, cats like eruptions also.

Valentine's day photos...late

We had to take our Valentine's day photos late this year because of our trip to Arkansas. Not to worry, here they are!

Winter break in Arkansas

This year for winter break we decided to drive to Arkansas to see our best friends, the Buttle family. The trip was definitely worth the drive! The adults had so much fun, and we think the kids did to. They played so well together will just a few fights ( mostly between siblings). The Buttle kids had school but they were able to stay home a few of the days we were there. Nathan and Kendalynn put on a circus for us, we jumped on the trampoline, went to a children's museum, had late night ice cream and dance party and played at the park a lot. Every night the kids wanted to have a big sleepover. So much chatter and laughter, and some tears, came our of that room. The only downside to the trip, was that Audrey never won a single game. I guess that Was only a down side for her though- everyone else enjoyed it.
