A great day of soccer

Last week when I was in Savannah, David called me while I was running (yes, I answered- silly, I know). He told me how frustrated at AJ he was and how miserable taking him to soccer was. This week I took AJ. All the parents that were there told me what a bad week Anderson had last week when I was gone. At one point he ran off the field to find his momma they said. They all commented on how completely different he was this week and that I needed to be the one to bring him to soccer- not David.  He had a great time running up and down the field chasing all the other players. He only came over to me twice for hugs because both times he fell down.

His little team Portugal huddles were the cutest!

 High fives!
 Team Italy!
Nathan had his best soccer game yet today! He was awesome! He scored several goals and also had a few good assists. He is learning a lot in practice and trying to implement what he learns into the games, like passing to his teammates.

 He shoots...
 He scores!
( I like that Nathan and his coach have the same reaction in this picture)

Hugs and high fives for everyone.
At one point during the game, Nathan told one of his teammates and his coach that "my mom is really nice". I don't know why he said it, but it was sweet to hear.
During Nathans game, Tessa and AJ were playing on one of the other fields. Tessa is quite good for her little size. She was dribbling the ball and chasing after it the whole length of the field. Maybe we will have another little soccer player in our family.

Half Marathon!

Bonnie asked me two weeks ago if I would run the Savannah Women's Half Marathon with her. She had signed up to run it with a friend but her friend was not able to run it. I was not prepared at all, I said yes anyway. I figured even if I walked most of it I could say I did it.

We left Friday afternoon and got to Savannah with barely enough time to pick up our race packets and walk back to our hotel. We stayed the night at the Thunderbird Hotel "the hippest place to play in Savannah". It was kind of cool, they had RC Cola and Moon Pies for us in our room. On Saturday morning we stopped in the office for the continental breakfast before walking to the race. The Thunderbird Hotel was serving o.j. and Krispy Kreme doughnuts for breakfast. We got to the race about five minutes before it started and then, off we went! We started out running and after two or three miles decided to walk a mile, run a mile. We did that until the eleventh mile, then we had to run half a mile walk half a mile all the way through the finish at 13.1!
It was so physically exhausting! But we did it! We finished in 2:57.16! Under three hours! I was planning on it taking us four hours. We maintained a 13:24 mile pace for 13 miles. I am quite proud of myself for this accomplishment. I don't however plan on running another one any time soon.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

A little leprechaun visited our house and left us a delicious rainbow!
 Too cute to pinch.
Nathan made a cute leprechaun hat at school, he was wearing it when I picked him up.

books and tutu's

Monday was such a beautiful day! Tessa loves to jump on the trampoline so I propped the screen door open so she could come in and out. She must have decided that it was the perfect weather to read outside. While I was in the kitchen making dinner I heard her out on the trampoline talking. I peeked out the door and saw her reading her "Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See" book. It was so cute. She was just sitting there with her book in her tutu lap (She loves wearing tutu's!).

It's fun to play at the YMCA...soccer that is.

Getting ready to start the game
We decided to put the boys in soccer this year (Nathan wanted to play baseball but we convinced him to play soccer instead so he and AJ could play the same sport). We signed them up through the YMCA. They aren't on the same team, but they both play on Saturday mornings- AJ at 09:00 and Nathan at 10:30 and only Nate has practices during the week. Anderson was very unprepared. He seemed to have no clue what was going on and since he is our shy one, it took a little more convincing to get him into it. Hopefully he will get better as the season goes. Nathan however had a great time. He makes friends so easily, he had no problem getting in there and playing with his new team.

Tessa loved watching and kicking the ball on the sidelines.

Go AJ go!

High fives!

Nathan warming up

Nathan scored a goal! When he came off the field to get a drink we congratulated him on his goal. He the responded with, "I didn't score a goal, my team scored a goal". It sounds like the "team player" attitude we are trying to teach him is working!
With Coach Snow - his team decided their team name will be the Snow Monsters.
