Saturday morning started off with a trip to our favorite hardware store-Lowes. We did the "Build and Grow" class and made a pair of binoculars, so we can find pirates. Nathan got another patch to sew on his apron.
While we were there we picked up a few items for our afternoon project- ridding our house of opossums! We are pretty sure that they (all 3 of them) have been getting in under our porch and walking between the main floor and the ceiling of the basement to the unfinished portion of the basement, where they have been feasting on our food storage before coming upstairs to live with us.
Nathan kept asking "Daddy, can I help?" It was really cute. We tore up some of the porch boards and found a big gap in the cement. We put some chicken wire up in there and then cemented it in place. We thought we were in the clear, no problems all day Saturday or Sunday-until we got in bed. That's when we heard the clawing and scratching. David went out and pulled up one of the porch boards (that luckily we haven't screwed back in yet). We thought maybe there was a opossum trying to get in. Nope! There was one trying to get out! We trapped it in there.
We tried baiting our trap last night with some good cat food, to lure it in there. But the dumb thing didn't come down. So now what? We don't know. When David gets home from work today we will try and get it out so it doesn't die down there and stink up our house for months.Wish us luck!

Nathan & Jake
Jake has been here this week taking a Lego Robotics summer camp at Kennesaw State University. Since they don't actually get to keep the robot they build, I thought I would take a few pictures so you all could see how cool it is.
Here is a close up picture of Robo, Jake's fighting robot.
Today Nathan had some arts and crafts time. He painted such a beautiful masterpiece, in the art world it is retailing for over 500K, but to us it is priceless.
Cheese!

4th of July
I don't have very many pictures of this years 4th of July, I forgot my camera at home. On Sunday after church we went over to Grandpa and Grandma Rygmyr's house. That night we went to watch the fireworks in Snellville. They put on a pretty good show. Nathan loved it, he was so excited to watch them. He kept saying all the colors as they would burst. For a while he would say "ouch, the fireworks hit my head". Then he kept asking to hold them, he was pretty cute.
David and his dad ran the Peachtree Road Race on the morning of the 4th. It is a huge 10K (6.2 miles) in downtown Atlanta. They did a great job and finished 39,000th, practically first place (there were 57000 in the race). After that we had a cookout and played in the backyard. After all that we headed back o our house hoping to light off some fireworks there, but it started raining.
It was a really fun 4th of July weekend!

Train museum
While Aunt Heather was here, we took her to the train museum, so she could see all the cool trains they have there.
Nathan had a lot of fun showing her around.
And then playing trains with her after the tour.

Mini golfing
While Heather, Bonnie and the kids were here, we went swimming, to a movie and mini golfing. We had lots of fun. It was pretty hot outside for golf, we all sweat a good bit. The above picture is Nathan's "I did it" pose. He had such a fun time playing golf for real.

Walking in the rain
So lately when David has been out of town, Nathan and I will go for an afternoon walk. We usually have a popscicle and collect rocks and sticks and anything else Nathan wants to put in his bucket. Today when it was time for our walk it was raining. Nathan wasn't going to let that stop us. He put on his rain boots and we grabbed his umbrella and headed out. Nathan had a lot of fun carrying his umbrella and collecting wet rocks to bring home for his bucket.

Nate swimming
Nathan loves to swim with his floaties. He does so well, and will swim all over the "big pool" (into the deep end). He will jump in to David or I (no one else), and does alright when he gets dunked now.
Nathan has been doing swim lessons for the last week to get more comfortable in the water. He has done really well. He didn't start out doing so well, but we figured out the problem (sorry Miss Jaclyn). He didn't like to swim with his teacher. He would say to me on the way to the pool, "no Miss Jaclyn. Only mommy", so mommy had to do swim lessons with Nate.
Also, Nathan is getting pretty tan (since we go to the pool for 4 hours a day). He has golden skin that tans, unlike his mom, who is a little on the red side.
