Daddy time!

Daddy took a week of vacation this last week so we could do some work around the house that has been neglected. Nathan has loved every minute of it. He has wanted to do everything that daddy does.
Here are some pictures of them playing in the rain last night. It was in the 80's and pouring, so as soon as I stepped outside to get pictures my camera lens fogged up-that's why some of the pictures are a little bit blurry. They were only out there for a minute or two but they got soaked.

Last Saturday (Aug 13th) Nathan had his first sleep over at Grandma and Grandpa Rygmyr's house. They said he did a fantastic job. They went to a petting zoo where Nathan got to feed the animals. He would give one a cracker and say "you're welcome" to whatever animal it was. They went to the store to let Nate pick out a toy, the toy he picked out was a bowling set. He loves it, he has played with it every day.

As I said earlier, Nathan has wanted to help David with every project this week. Nathan needed his own size hammer ho help bend the nails. First he hit the boards, then he moved on to other things in the yard, like the tree stump we are trying to kill.

He tried the daddy size hammer for a bit, but decided it was too heavy.
Nate even wanted to go with daddy when he took the missionaries out. Nathan was crying and would say "I be a missionary too". It was really cute. And when daddy went to his golf lesson he told Nathan he would take him golfing when he is a big boy. Nathan came crying to me saying "I be a big boy now"?
Also this week, we have worked on potty training. Nathan has done a great job, only a few accidents. We told him at the beginning of the week if he did a good job we would buy him some pet fish. He got to go to the pet store on Saturday and pick out his new pet fish. Nathan decided he needed 5 fish, so we gave him his money and let him pick his 5 fish out. Now, Duck, Spot, Red, Poke and Corey Feldman are living in his room and Nathan loves it!

Super Nathan!

Nathan is all about daddy being a soldier right now. When Nathan wakes up in the morning and comes down to my room he asks "where's daddy"? I tell him he is at work, then Nathan says "daddy a soldier" sometimes in a questioning manner and sometimes as a statement. When daddy come home from work in his uniform Nathan gives him a hug and says "daddy, you a soldier" more like he is telling David as if David didn't know. It is really cute. He was very excited the other day to wear daddy's soldier hat.

I don't know how to turn the video, sorry. The other day Nathan wanted to wear his Superman shirt (even though it is long sleeved and 96* outside) He wore it every where we went that day. Here is a video of him singing into his mic (a garden hose nozzle) "I've been working on the Railroad".

A opossum update

Monday we opened up the chicken wire we had put up and put down some baby powder (to check for tracks). We also put the trap at the end of the porch with some cat food in it (and kept Boris inside). That night we heard him trying to get out and then, jackpot he got out, and caught in the trap.
On Tuesday after David got off work, he and Nathan took O'Perry out and released him back into the woods, to find his mommy and daddy. We sealed back up the chicken wire and now hope to live opossum free.
As a side note, David thinks that when we moved the arcade machine upstairs, it made it way harder for the opossums to get down.

Can I help you daddy?

Saturday morning started off with a trip to our favorite hardware store-Lowes. We did the "Build and Grow" class and made a pair of binoculars, so we can find pirates. Nathan got another patch to sew on his apron.

While we were there we picked up a few items for our afternoon project- ridding our house of opossums! We are pretty sure that they (all 3 of them) have been getting in under our porch and walking between the main floor and the ceiling of the basement to the unfinished portion of the basement, where they have been feasting on our food storage before coming upstairs to live with us.

Nathan kept asking "Daddy, can I help?" It was really cute. We tore up some of the porch boards and found a big gap in the cement. We put some chicken wire up in there and then cemented it in place. We thought we were in the clear, no problems all day Saturday or Sunday-until we got in bed. That's when we heard the clawing and scratching. David went out and pulled up one of the porch boards (that luckily we haven't screwed back in yet). We thought maybe there was a opossum trying to get in. Nope! There was one trying to get out! We trapped it in there.
We tried baiting our trap last night with some good cat food, to lure it in there. But the dumb thing didn't come down. So now what? We don't know. When David gets home from work today we will try and get it out so it doesn't die down there and stink up our house for months.
Wish us luck!

Nathan & Jake

Jake has been here this week taking a Lego Robotics summer camp at Kennesaw State University. Since they don't actually get to keep the robot they build, I thought I would take a few pictures so you all could see how cool it is.
Here is a close up picture of Robo, Jake's fighting robot.

Today Nathan had some arts and crafts time. He painted such a beautiful masterpiece, in the art world it is retailing for over 500K, but to us it is priceless.

Cheese!
