Finding things to do.

With the hiking trails and beaches closed, we have had to find a few other things to do. We have gone to the Ft. Shafter Library a few times, we snorkeled at Shark's Cove, went to Pearl Harbor, saw bullet strafing's at Ford Island, hiked the Tripler Ridge Trail, went to the Honolulu Zoo and Children's Discovery Center of Hawaii.  It was so much fun to explore more than just the beaches. Of course, we also made sure to find time for shave ice!

Out of quarantine!

Woohoo! We made it!  After quarantine, we were ready for the beach!  On Sunday, we had a real quick stop at Ala Moana Beach Park before going to Mitchell's for dinner and games. And on Monday, we took Jess and Violet Bishoff to Bellows! Our very favorite beach on the island! The sand, waves, view are all perfect! On Thursday we went to the beach with some friends from Georgia that are stationed at Schofield. I stepped on a sea urchin, and that was a bummer. Luckily the lifeguards had some vinegar to help. Sadly, due to the spike in COVID cases, on Friday the Govenor closed the beaches and parks and hiking trails. I am so glad that we were able to get a few beach days in between quarantine and the shutdown.

Quarantining in paradise!

For David's interview rotation at Tripler, he had to quarantine for two weeks. He did not want to do it alone, like he did in Jacksonville, so the kids and I went to keep him company (sigh). We had a pretty big room, we made a schedule and had a lot of fun!   David flew out of a different airport than the kids and I , but we met up with him in Dallas and flew the rest of the trip together. The first few days we adjusted to the new time zone, then we decided we needed to make a schedule to keep us on track. We were lucky to get a bottom floor room with a huge lanai that opened to the back field so the kids could run around outside when no one else was out there. We played games, did school work, watched helicopters land, watched movies, had PE and filled the rest of the time with whatever we could. It was a fun two weeks.  While we were quarantined, a hurricane was headed for Hawaii, so that provided us with some excitement. The hurricane changed it's course after it hit Maui, wo all we got was rain and some wind.

Daddy's back!

Hooray! Daddy madeit home today from his 6 weeks in Jacksonville, Florida for his neurology rotation.  We are so glad he is back, for the weekend, before heading off to Hawaii on Sunday. At least this time we all get to go quarantine with him!
