This year, David and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary! We decided we would take a trip back to California, where it all began! We asked grandpa Rygmyr to stay with the kids and of we went.
We flew into L.A. and drive down to Costa Mesa to see Sherri and her family. We ate In-N-Out with them and stayed the night at their house. The next day was our anniversary Nov. 04) and we decided to go to the Los Angeles temple, but not before breakfast at Ruby's! After breakfast and on our way out, Sherri took us across the Balboa Island car ferry.
When we arrived at the L.A. temple we had some time before the session so we went into the visitors center for a bit. After we did our session we decided to do some sealings and when we finished there, the sealer gave us a little tour.
We had dinner in the cafeteria before we left. Following dinner, we needed desert so we drove to Diddy Reese for some cookies. They were as delicious as I remembered them.
We stayed the night of our anniversary in Los Angeles. On the 5th, we woke up and drove up highway 1 to Monterey! It was such a long drive. L.A. traffic plus road construction made the drive take way longer than it should have (6ish instead of 4 1/2) David now hates Hwy 1!
When we finally arrived in Monterey, we first went to DLI. We drove around and walked around some there letting David reminisce. From there we went down to Alvarado street for dinner at Papa Chano's. Then we walked around down there before going to our hotel.
We stayed at the Intercontinental on Cannery Row. It was a beautiful 4 diamond hotel. It had a fireplace in the room! In the morning we ate breakfast at First Awakening before having lunch at Compagno's and then driving up to San Francisco. On our way to San Francisco we stopped Salinas to see my friends Larry (John) and Callie DeGuzman and their little girl Danica.
Since we were staying down by fisherman's wharf we would take the ferry to Alcatraz. We didn't know that you need to book those in advance. The bell hop at the hotel told us we wouldn't get tickets for the sane day. Drats! So we decided too Walsh to the Coit tower and China Town. After that we walked to Union Square where we decided to take the street car back to the wharf. When we got back to the wharf it was dark and we were tired. So we decided to eat at Hard Rock Cafe since it was about 5 steps away.
In the morning we drove across the Golden Gate Bridge before heading to the airport.
We had such a fun trip! We missed the kids a lot, but it was so much fun to just be the two of us.
