Honor Flight

This morning Tessa and I had the privilege of joining the Clemson Club of Baltimore/DC at the Reagan airport to greet the Honor Flight coming in from South Carolina. It was such an amazing experience! The Honor Flight flies veteran's in from all over the country and takes them on a tour of the war memorials. There wereso grateful and happy, some were even crying. We  even met and talked with Colonel Skardon (who turned 100 last year). He is the last living survivor of the Bataan Death March. Col. Skardon told Tessa that he loves Clemson girls and the gave him a kiss on the cheek. He loved it! He gave Tessa one of his challenge coins! The west point alumi choir was also there singing to welcome the veterans. It was such a wonderful way to spend our morning.
(Side note: the boys couldn't make it, they were on a father/sons campout)
Here is a link to a article about Colonel Skardon:

Clemson club clean up

We joined the Clemson club for a clean up day at Mt. Vernon. The head horticulturist at Mt. Vernon is a Clemson alumni and set up a day to clear some dead brush, have lunch, and learn a little more about Mt. Vernon.

Tessa's new school

Tessa started at her new school today, Beall Elementary. Today is her first day of speech therapy! She is so eager and excited, partially because she gets to ride a bus. It picks her up at our house and drops her off right back in front of our home!
Today, when the bus came, we walked out together but she left the way! She was so excited to be a big girl, she was so confident! She waved goodbye, sat down in her seat and she was off. I waited and waved to her as the bus driver off. As I turned to walk back into the house, I cried a little thinking about how grown up my baby is!

Braves baseball in DC!

The Braves are in town so where are we? At the ball park!! Unfortunately, the Braves lost the game, but it was fun to be back at the ballpark, even though it felt more like football weather than baseball!

Esmeralda and Zoey

When I drive to take Tessa to an from school, I pass a house that makes me smile. The reason I smile, on the porch of the hose stands a tall goose that reminds me of the duck I would see back in Georgia as I took each of the kids to preschool at Little Warriors. The duck's are always changing their clothes to  be better prepared for the weather, or to cheer on their favorite sports teams. I decided to stop at this house to take a picture of the duck. The owner was so kind and happy to talk about her ducks, Esmeralda and little Zoey.

Cherry Blossom festival!

Tessa and I were invited by a friend to go down to the Tidal Basin ( I did not know what it was) to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom. It was down by the water near the Jefferson memorial. There were so many cherry trees and with such beautiful memorials as backdrops!

Easter

This year we decided to do an Easter egg hunt in out house for the kids on Easter morning. Each kids had one large egg to hunt and one gold egg to hunt along with a bunch of smaller eggs to find. The kids were so excited to finally d the golden eggs, and they helped each other to find them all, it was really sweet.
After our egg-stravaganza, we got dressed to go watch conference at the visitors center.
Because of Him, we can be an eternal family. Even though we didn't get to go visit Andrew and feed the ducks this Easter, we did get to spend time in the shadow of the temple. We were able to feel the peace that only our Savior can bring.
